Live tickers, weather and news around your MacBook notch

TickerNotch uses the black bars beside the MacBook notch, the pixels nothing else touches, to keep what you follow permanently in view.

One search box adds anything to the strip. Type a symbol for a stock, index, ETF, future or coin. Type a city for weather: temperature, high and low, feels like, rain chance, rain amount, UV or wind. Type a handle for a live follower count from YouTube, GitHub, Twitch, Bluesky or Mastodon. Two more rows show your own machine: CPU load with memory used, and network download with upload, sampled locally so nothing leaves your Mac.

Each side of the notch is yours to set. One flank can scroll all your news while the other shows only breaking headlines, where breaking means a title matching your own keywords or anything from a channel you marked as an alerts source. Or run news on both sides with different channels on each, and no market tickers at all.

Pin any slot to the macOS menu bar as its own live item. Click a pinned item and a panel opens with the detail behind it: a mini chart with the day's high and low for a ticker, every reading for a weather place, the current count for a social counter.

Traders get more. Enter a position and the notch shows live dollar profit or loss instead of the daily percent. Click a ticker for a candlestick chart window with moving averages, Bollinger Bands, RSI, MACD, Supertrend and Volume Profile, from 1-minute to daily. Price alerts fire native macOS notifications when a level is crossed or a move is big enough, measured over a rolling window or from the daily open.

It is native Swift and SwiftUI, a small download, signed and notarized by Apple. There is no account and no analytics. Your Mac fetches the data directly.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Macs without a notch, and external displays, get a simulated island instead.
